Burglars targeted the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes last month, just before their Oct. 7 matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
According to police records obtained by Page Six, Mahomes’ Belton, Missouri mansion was broken into shortly after midnight on Oct. 6. A bodyguard reported the incident, but it remains unclear what, if anything, was stolen. The three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback had been out celebrating Kelce’s 35th birthday hours before the break-in. It’s unknown if Mahomes, his pregnant wife Brittany, or their two young children were home during the incident.
Just 48 hours later, Kelce’s sprawling Leawood, Kansas mansion was also burglarized around 7:30 p.m., coinciding with the start of the Chiefs-Saints game. Reports obtained by TMZ indicate that the thieves made off with $20,000 in cash and caused damage to Kelce’s back door. Sources believe the two high-profile burglaries may be connected to a string of similar crimes in the Kansas City area.
The FBI is collaborating with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office on the investigation into the Mahomes’ estate, while the Leawood Police Department is handling Kelce’s case. Insiders suggest that authorities suspect an organized crime group may be responsible, potentially operating beyond Missouri.
Despite the incidents, neither Mahomes nor Kelce has publicly commented. Mahomes’ property, purchased for $400,000 in 2020, boasts amenities such as a basketball court, a par-3 golf hole, and a football field. Kelce, who recently upgraded to a $6 million mansion for more privacy amid his relationship with Taylor Swift, also values the security of living in a gated community.
Swift was in Kansas City for Kelce’s birthday celebration and reportedly hosted a private party for him, his family, and the Mahomeses at a local sushi restaurant. The festivities wrapped up early as the NFL players prepared for their game the following day.
