Just like all stray canines, Chenille craved love and hoped that one day, she would find her place under the sun.
The hope for a better tomorrow warmed Chenille’s heart and gave her strength to continue the difficult and uncertain life on the streets of Ohio.
When rescuers came across the stray doggo, they scooped her up and took her to Lucas County Canine Care & Control.
The adorable pup thought that she was close to achieving her dream, but once she was admitted to the overcrowded shelter, she felt disappointed.
Chenille longed for freedom and love, but she found herself at the noisy shelter that made her nervous.
The Doggo Gets A Chance
The pup was scared and unable to relax. She kept her tail tucked between her legs and her head was bent.
Although the staff tried interacting with her, Chenille remained timid and shut-down.
“Some dogs just do not do well in a shelter environment. She would just walk around, tail tucked, ears back and a bit hunched,” LeeAnn Harden, dog intake coordinator at Planned Pethood, Inc., told The Dodo.
After spending two and a half months at the Ohio shelter, Planned Pethood pulled Chenille out and took her under their care.
Wishing to help Chenille come out of her shell, Harden decided to foster her.
Once the pup moved in with her foster mom, she looked at her new surroundings with a confused look on her face. Chenille was just as timid as she had been in her shelter kennel.
Everything changed when the doggo met Lila, Harden’s two-year-old daughter who was a big dog lover.
The toddler loved being chased by her family’s pups and she was delighted to meet Chenille.
When Lila started running around the room and turning around to see if Chenille was chasing her, the pup forgot about her fear.
Her sad face suddenly lit up.
She started chasing Lila and hopping with her foster sister on a bed. Chenille licked the toddler’s hands and looked at her with newly-discovered joy.
A Little Human Helps Chenille Discover Joy
Lila was equally enchanted with her and couldn’t stop chuckling as Chenille continued playing with her.
Chenille’s eyes sparkled with happiness. She realized how beautiful life can be.
Harden captured the heartwarming moment of the pooch and her foster sister, and the Ohio shelter posted the video on their TikTok account, bringing a smile to the faces of their followers.
“[This] is why fostering is so important, especially for dogs like Chenille. Within two hours of being at our house, I took that video,” Harden added.
Chenille turned into a cuddle bug. She enjoys snuggling with her foster family and showering them with kisses.
The lovely girl gets along with the family’s dogs. Chenille is the happiest when she is playing with her little foster sister.
The pooch is grateful to Harden and her family for giving her a chance to feel the warmth and comfort of a home.
Owing to their love and kindness, she transformed into a cheerful dog who loves life.
I hope that the delightful pooch will soon find her forever humans who will adore her and treasure her like she deserves.
