Terry Bradshaw Sparks Controversy with Confusing Remarks on FOX NFL Sunday, Demanding That a $230M Star Be ‘Put Down,’ Leaving Viewers Perplexed .giang

Terry Bradshaw’s on-air commentary once again raised eyebrows after the FOX NFL Sunday analyst called for Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson to be “put down.”

On Sunday, the Browns struggled to find much of any success on offense during a blowout 34-13 loss to the Commanders. Watson did little to impress in the contest, completing 15-of-28 passes for 125 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions while also being sacked seven times by Washington’s stout defense.

Through the first five games of the season, Watson has thrown for 852 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions en route to commanding the Browns to a meager 1-4 record. He has additionally amassed 131 rushing yards on 25 carries.

Despite the lackluster start to the year, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski asserted that he is not yet considering making a change at quarterback.”We need to play better, I need to coach better, and that’s really what it is,” he told reporters in a post-game press conference on Sunday.

Following Watson’s latest poor performance, Bradshaw speculated that it might be time for the Browns to bench the 29-year-old – who inked a five-year, fully guaranteed $230 million contract with Cleveland back in 2022. But the Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback posed his suggestion in only the way he can.

“Do you put Watson down now?” Bradshaw asked. “He has not played well since he has been in Cleveland, simply not played well.”

Fellow FOX NFL Sunday co-hosts Howie Long and Michael Strahan jokingly pushed back on Bradshaw’s choice of words, insisting that Watson shouldn’t be killed for his disappointing play. “I wouldn’t put him down. I’d want to sit him,” Long replied.

“Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. That was a little harsh,” Strahan added, sending the group of studio analysts into a fit of laughter.

Taking to social media, fans blasted Bradshaw for the slip-up, insisting that it was time for him to retire. “How does Terry have a job still,” one X user wrote, with another adding: “Bradshaw needs to retire.“

A third conceded: “Time comes for us all. Unfortunately, Terry Bradshaw is nearing the end of his broadcasting career.”

This isn’t the first time that Bradshaw has been at the center of an awkward moment this season. Over the weekend, the 76-year-old interrupted Strahan’s announcement that he was inducted into the Texas Southern University Hall of Fame – a historically Black college – with an ill-timed joke suggesting he also attended the school.

A week prior, Bradshaw once again drew the ire of viewers after mimicking a Carolina accent while previewing the Carolina Panthers game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Though some found the bit to be entertaining, the vast majority believed it was offensive and cruel.
