Taylor Swift is stepping back from the spotlight when it comes to supporting her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, at Kansas City Chiefs road games. After attending several of his games earlier this season, Swift has decided to take a break from traveling to away matchups, hoping to ease some of the pressure off the star tight end during his challenging start to the season.
Last weekend, the Cruel Summer singer was notably absent when the Chiefs took on the Los Angeles Chargers, marking the first time she missed one of Kelce’s games this season. Her decision came after a series of underwhelming performances from Kelce, who has struggled to find his usual rhythm on the field. Despite her enthusiasm for watching her boyfriend play and cheering on the Chiefs, a well-placed source told The U.S. Sun that Swift will likely attend only home games in the near future, depending on her availability.
The source revealed, “Taylor will most likely only go to home games for the next few weeks when her schedule allows her to.” With her massive Eras tour set to return to North America later this month, Swift has plenty on her plate as she prepares for a busy stretch to close out the year.
While Swift has enjoyed supporting the Chiefs, the insider noted that her decision to skip certain games comes from a place of love and concern for Kelce. “Taylor wants to keep it low-key to protect Travis from possible extra criticism,” the source shared. “She loves him and knows that he will bounce back, but she is ready to skip some games so he doesn’t have to deal with more pressure.”
Kelce, 34, has struggled to replicate his usual magic with quarterback Patrick Mahomes this season. So far, he’s had his worst start to a season, failing to find the end zone and showing fewer explosive plays than fans are used to seeing. The Chiefs’ next challenge comes against the New Orleans Saints on Monday, and Kelce will be hoping to notch his first touchdown of the year.
