Tom Brady had a hilarious response to Bill Belichick bribing staffers to knock down his passes at the New England Patriots.
Legendary quarterback Brady and head coach Belichick formed an all-conquering dynasty throughout their 18 years with the Patriots. They won their first Super Bowl together in 2001 before becoming football’s most iconic duo by clinching five more victories on the NFL’s biggest stage.
There is no doubt that Belichick, 72, got the best out of Brady, 47, using his legendary coaching methods. And he recently revealed one tactic he implemented during an often-seen passing drill, which mimics defensive linemen swatting down a quarterback’s passes.

Peyton Manning reenacted the drill during the Week 12 Monday Night Football on ManningCast. He revealed that Belichick went one step further by making equipment personnel hold up tennis rackets to make it even harder for Brady to find throwing lanes.
Belichick interjected by stating he would even pay staffers $100 to bat down the seven-time Super Bowl champion’s passes. But the cheeky Brady would outbid his coach by paying them $200 if they failed to knock any of his passes down.
“They would try to bat them down,” Belichick said on ESPN. “They wouldn’t stand there like your guys did and move their rackets out of the way when you throw it.

“I’d pay them to knock Brady’s passes down. The problem was, Brady would pay them more. He’d pay them $200 if he went through all of practice and didn’t knock one down. Brady’s making more than I was.”
It is the type of insight fans were hoping for when ESPN announced Belichick would join the Manning brothers for the first half of each “ManningCast” broadcast this season.
Brady revealed earlier this year that, despite their unparalleled success together, a breakdown in his relationship with the coach was a key motivation behind his shock decision to leave the Patriots in 2020, going on to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent.

Speaking during an episode of the Apple TV+ docuseries ‘The Dynasty’, he said: “Me and Coach Belichick, we did what we loved and competed for 20 years together. But I wasn’t going to sign another contract even if I wanted to play until 50. Based on how things had gone, I wasn’t going to sign up for more of it.”
The QB found a $50million contract waiting for him in Florida, where he eventually played out the last three years of his illustrious career. In that period, Brady tasted further success on the field, winning another Super Bowl, as Belichick struggled to inspire the Patriots to repeating their past glories.
