Tiger Woods will make his TGL debut in next week’s match between Jupiter Links and Los Angeles Golf Club.
It was unclear whether Woods would play in Jupiter Links’ first match after a lack of competitive action in recent months. TGL teams have four players, with one member sitting out for each game.
The 15-time major champion has not teed it up in a competitive event since missing the cut at The Open Championship in July as he continues to battle the lingering effects of a high-speed car crash in 2021 that has compromised his mobility.

Woods did play in the PNC Championship last month alongside his son, Charlie, finishing second to Bernhard Langer and his son, Jason, in the exhibition event, but he skipped the Hero World Challenge two weeks previously, saying he was not ready to compete with the best players in the world.
However, Woods will be in action at SoFi Center on Jan. 14 as Jupiter Links – whose roster also includes Kevin Kisner, Max Homa and Tom Kim – take on the L.A. squad made up of Collin Morikawa, Tommy Fleetwood, Sahith Theegala and Justin Rose. Woods’ biggest issue in recent years has been walking the course day after day during tournaments, but TGL – played entirely within a 1,500-capacity arena – will put much less strain on his body.
ESPN announcer Matt Barrie confirmed on Tuesday’s broadcast that Woods will play in the match, and the 49-year-old said: “I’m excited to do this. It’s been a dream come true to build something like this and have it come to reality. I’m part of the playing process now and I haven’t been part of the playing process for a while.

“It’s a little bit harder for me to play a full-time schedule, but this is something neat and we’re able to bring it to all the fans all around the world.”
Woods, however, declined to give an early indication of which players will be joining him for Jupiter Links’ debut match. “Man, I’m not gonna disclose that now. Come on,” Woods joked. “There’s some strategy here.”
The Bay defeated New York 9-2 in TGL’s inaugural match on Tuesday evening, with Ludvig Aberg, Shane Lowry and Wyndham Clark proving too good for Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler and Matt Fitzpatrick on the night.
Woods and Rory McIlroy, whose TMRW Sports company created the TGL concept, were both in attendance for opening night, and Woods made clear his delight to see their plans come to fruition.
“This was just a dream conjured up,” he said. “Rory and I were talking about this; it’s hard to believe that dream came into reality and we were able to take golf into another stratosphere. It’s not traditional golf, but its golf and to provide a different type of atmosphere, you don’t hear that at most events.”
