Terry Bradshaw thinks the Dallas Cowboys should get rid of both Mike McCarthy and Micah Parsons following another devastating home loss in Week 10.
The Cowboys were trounced 34-6 by the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, marking their sixth defeat in nine games, leaving the Texas team in turmoil. With McCarthy’s contract expiring at season’s end, Bradshaw, 76, suspects the Cowboys won’t be too keen to offer the 61-year-old a new contract.
“I think Mike McCarthy is probably going to get released at the end of the year,” the Pittsburgh Steelers icon said on FOX NFL Sunday. “They had three years in a row where they had 12-5 seasons but they haven’t won one playoff game. Their quarterback [Dak Prescott] is out now. They’ve spent $360million (£281m) on a quarterback, wide receiver [CeeDee Lamb] and defensive cornerback in Trevon Diggs.”
Dallas owner Jerry Jones has faced questions about McCarthy’s future but has committed to keeping the former Green Bay Packers coach until at least the end of the season. “I don’t believe we’ll make a coaching change during the season,” Jones told reporters recently.

Doubts about McCarthy’s future appear to have filtered down to the Dallas’ locker room, with linebacker Parsons, 25, causing a stir after seemingly criticizing his head coach. However, speaking at the weekend, Bradshaw urged The Cowboys to get rid of Parsons, who has just one year left on his contract, too.
“My answer to Dallas’ problems is they need more talent so I would take Parsons and I wouldn’t sign him,” he said. “He’s in his fourth year and would be in his fifth year. Trade him and get an extra No. 1.”
After Sunday’s defeat to Philadelphia, a visibly annoyed Parsons told reporters: “Mike can leave and go wherever he wants. Guys I kind of feel bad for [are] guys like Zack Martin and guys who might be on their last year or on their way out.

“Because that’s who I wanted to hold the trophy for. You want to win games and do great things with those type of legends who put in more time and work than Mike McCarthy ever did. Those are the kind of guys that I have so much sympathy and hurt for.”
Exercising damage control, Parsons later clarified his commentary, stating he was merely addressing McCarthy’s contract status, not criticizing him: “The question that I was asked was did I see Mike McCarthy in our future, and I said that’s above my pay grade,” Parsons claimed on The Edge with Micah Parsons. “Not once did I intend to reflect on McCarthy or his career. I have a great relationship with him.”

After Parsons’ remarks made headlines, coach McCarthy took him aside for a talk. “Micah and I had a conversation this morning about it,” the Super Bowl XLV winner revealed, before later implying they had settled the issue.
“We handled those things as men should handle it,” McCarthy added. He clarified that Parsons did not mean to criticize, stating, “[Criticizing me] wasn’t his intent, but that’s something he can talk on.”
