SPORT NEWS: Shannon Sharpe Slams Cowboys Players, Says ‘That’s Why You Suck’.giang

Shannon Sharpe has never been one to mince words when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys. As a vocal critic of “America’s Team,” Sharpe often takes delight in poking fun at their shortcomings, especially when the team hits a rough patch. But on the latest episode of his “Nightcap” podcast, Sharpe dropped the humor and instead unleashed a scathing critique of the Cowboys, calling out some of the team’s star players for what he considered a complete lack of commitment to winning.

The focus of Sharpe’s ire was Dallas stars CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs, who were spotted out clubbing after the Cowboys suffered a brutal loss to the Houston Texans on Monday night.

The Cowboys, now 3-7 and seemingly in freefall, were handed a crushing blowout defeat by the Texans, yet Lamb and Diggs apparently felt no hesitation about celebrating the night away in public. To Sharpe, this was more than just a bad look — it was a glaring indication of the team’s priorities, or rather, their lack thereof.

“That’s why your Cowboys suck — because two of their best players, this is what they’re doing,” Sharpe said, clearly exasperated. “That shows you how much the game of football means to them.” In Sharpe’s eyes, the actions of Lamb and Diggs were emblematic of the Cowboys’ broader issues: a failure to take the game seriously and a casual attitude that betrays any claim to championship aspirations.

Sharpe’s rant went beyond just a critique of the two players’ night out. He took aim at the entire culture of the Cowboys, questioning whether the players really care about winning at all. “You can’t convince me these guys care about winning,” he declared, his voice tinged with frustration.

“Because this is not what you do when you want to win. So what’s in the club that’s gonna help you get better? Take your ass home and start the recovery process.”

Sharpe, himself a three-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame tight end, emphasized that winning in the NFL requires sacrifices that go beyond talent and physical ability.

To him, Lamb and Diggs’ behavior reflected a mindset more focused on enjoying the perks of being NFL stars than on putting in the hard work necessary to turn around a struggling season. He continued, “This is why I couldn’t play in today’s time. Because I don’t care what they say, guys, most — a lot — don’t care about winning. They like the bag. They like what comes along with being an NFL player.”

Sharpe’s criticism wasn’t just about partying after a bad game. It was about what that behavior signifies for a team that, year after year, struggles to live up to its lofty reputation. The Cowboys, despite being one of the most popular and valuable sports franchises globally, have not found the kind of postseason success that their fan base craves.

Sharpe sees a connection between the mentality displayed by Lamb and Diggs and the team’s inability to compete for a Super Bowl.

The timing of this controversy couldn’t be worse for the Cowboys. With a record of 3-7, they are in the midst of a five-game losing streak and sit near the bottom of the NFC standings. Their aspirations for making the playoffs have all but vanished, and their recent performances have been riddled with inconsistency and errors.

In such a context, two of the team’s biggest stars choosing to hit the club instead of focusing on getting better and supporting their struggling teammates is not only tone-deaf but a potential morale killer.

“It’s hard to argue against this rant from Sharpe,” said one fan on social media, reflecting the sentiments of many who heard the podcast. “Championship-caliber teams aren’t partying at a club when they’re on a five-game losing streak. That’s just the truth.” For Sharpe, it’s not just about optics — it’s about the fundamental difference between teams that win titles and teams that consistently fall short. The players that make the sacrifices, that show discipline and dedication, are the ones who find themselves playing in February. And right now, Sharpe doesn’t see that level of commitment in Dallas.

The Cowboys are set to return to action this Sunday against the Washington Commanders. It’s a divisional matchup that could provide a much-needed boost if they manage to secure a victory. However, given their current form and lack of cohesion, it’s hard to predict anything but more struggles for a team that has lost its way.

And if they do end up extending their losing streak, there’s little doubt that Shannon Sharpe will have more to say about it on Monday’s episode of ESPN’s “First Take.” Given his long history of criticizing the Cowboys, Sharpe will be ready with another blistering analysis if the team continues to underperform.

Shannon Sharpe’s message was clear: winning takes sacrifice, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence — traits that he believes are currently lacking in the Dallas Cowboys locker room.

For CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs, their night out has now become symbolic of the Cowboys’ recent failures, and it’s hard to argue with Sharpe’s assessment. Winning teams don’t party after getting blown out — they regroup, they refocus, and they do everything in their power to get better.

If the Cowboys are serious about reclaiming their status as a powerhouse in the NFL, it might be time for them to listen to Sharpe’s advice, even if it comes in the form of tough love.

Otherwise, “America’s Team” might find itself languishing in mediocrity for yet another season, with fans left to wonder when — or if — the glory days will ever return.
