The Seattle Seahawks have shut down two of the best offenses in the NFL in the last two weeks, coinciding with a two-game win streak that’s revived their playoff odds and even put them in first place in the NFC West. Sunday’s 16-6 victory over the Arizona Cardinals also snapped a four-game losing streak at home.
Let’s see what we can learn from this week’s Pro Football Focus grades for the Seahawks.
Kenneth Walker III, JSN top Seahawks offense
If you only saw the box score you might assume that running back Ken Walker had a mediocre-at-best kind of game. He only finished with 41 yards on 16 carries against the Cardinals, an average of just 2.6 yards per attempt. However, considering the non-running lanes he had to work with that’s actually pretty impressive. Walker also did great work as a receiver, totaling 52 yards on four catches. For his efforts Walker earned the highest grade on offense for Seattle this week at 88.2 overall.
Second-year wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba continued his hot streak for a third straight game, totaling a team-high 77 yards and a touchdown on six catches. JSN earned the second-highest grade from PFF on offense at 79.1 overall.
Another bad week for Seattle’s offensive line
There’s still plenty of work to do on offense for these Seahawks, especially at the line of scrimmage. After a great 2024 debut against the 49ers this week right tackle Abe Lucas posted the second-lowest grade on offense at 48.6 overall. Left guard Laken Tomlinson was even worse, coming in at a unit-low 43.6 overall. Only left tackle Charles Cross (63.6) posted a respectable grade this week among Seattle’s starting offensive linemen.
Geno Smith earns solid grade despite pick
Thanks to that atrocious OL once again starting quarterback Geno Smith found himself facing a ton of pressure. This week he was sacked five times and took six QB hits. He finished with a pretty mediocre line of 22/31 for 254 yards, one touchdown, one pick and a 92.7 rating. However, he was very, very lucky to have avoided a second interception that might have swung the game the other way. Nevertheless, Smith earned the third-highest grade on Seattle’s offense this week at 70.3 overall.
Leonard Williams leads Seahawks defense
The most impressive player on the field yesterday was easily the Seahawks’ massive defensive end Leonard Williams. He was disruptive as hell in Arizona’s backfield, racking up six tackles, 2.5 sacks, three tackles for a loss and four quarterback hits. For his efforts Williams earned the top grade on defense this week at 87.0 overall. Next up, veteran nose tackle Johnathan Hankins broke his streak of bad grades and finished second on defense with an 85.9 overall mark. Meanwhile, Middle linebacker Ernest Jones earned the bronze medal on D this week with a 73.5 grade.
Rayshawn Jenkins bottoms out as Coby Bryant shines
When they activated strong safety Rayshawn Jenkins from IR on Saturday we wrote that the team faced an interesting decision at safety. Now it’s a very easy one. Jenkins posted the team’s lowest defensive grade this week at 39.8 overall. He was out-snapped 29 to 58 by Coby Bryant, who posted a pick-six. It’s clear who should get the majority of the playing time next to Julian Love from here until the end of the season.
