Former Chicago Bulls star Ron Harper has no interest in seeing his son, Dylan Harper, play for the Utah Jazz.

Harper told a Jazz fan on X that “a trade would happen” should Utah select the Rutgers freshman in the 2025 NBA Draft.

This is not the first time Harper has expressed his opposition to the potential of his son joining the Jazz.

Dallas Mavericks star Derek Harper famously turned down a trade to the Jazz in 1997 after saying that he did not want to live in Utah.

Harper seems to have previously claimed on X that he also rejected a trade to the Jazz during his NBA career.

Chicago topped in Utah back-to-back NBA Finals during Harper’s tenure with the team. He capped off his second-to-last season with the franchise by starting alongside Michael Jordan as the Bulls defeated the Jazz in six games to claim the 1998 championship.

Those Finals runs may have left Harper with a negative impression of the Jazz, although the former NBA star wrote in a previous post on X that his son “will make his own choice for sure” regarding his future team.

The Jazz fell to 4-16 on the season with Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Lakers and could be on track to earn a top-10 pick for the third straight season. The franchise has selected Cody Williams at No. 10 and Taylor Hendricks at No. 9 in the past two drafts.

Harper is meanwhile projected as a top-three pick should he decide to begin his pro career following his freshman campaign with the Scarlet Knights. He is reportedly impressing NBA scouts by averaging 23.8 points while shooting 51.1 percent from the field in his first eight college games
