Patrick Mahomes risked a feud with his pregnant wife, Brittany Mahomes after choosing to attend the Kansas City Royals’ MLB playoffs clash with the New York Yankees.
According to the Kansas City Chiefs three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback, going to the baseball game risked a storm with wife Brittany, who’s his high school sweetheart and soon-to-be mother of his three children.
Mahomes admitted after the Chiefs beat the New Orleans Saints that during Kansas City’s bye week, Brittany will be vacationing while he attends the ball game. “It’s bye week, so Brittany’s vacationing and me getting to the Royals game, we’ll feud for sure,” he said.
The NFL star followed through with his intention to support another Kansas City national sports team, the Royals, as he attended the game alongside his younger brother, Jackson Mahomes, with both wearing the home jersey.

The Royals lost Game 3 with the Yankees 3-2 but Mahomes appeared to have a blast, even jokingly squaring up to ex-teammate Gehrig Dieter. Mahomes’ roots in baseball run deep, with his dad a former MLB player across an 11-year span, playing for Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, Yokohama BayStars, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates.
The NFL superstar was even drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 37th round of the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft. However, Mahomes’ focus was on football at Texas Tech. But, had he focused on baseball, he could’ve been a first-rounder like he was in the 2017 NFL Draft for the Chiefs.
Mahomes has had an uncharacteristically slow personal start to the 2024 NFL campaign. He has thrown as many interceptions as he has touchdown passes, with six each. And he only has 1,235 passing yards.

Nonetheless, the three-peat-chasing Chiefs have a 5-0 perfect record this season despite widespread injuries on offense to key players such as Hollywood Brown, and running back Isiah Pacheco.
The Kansas City defense was praised by Mahomes. “We’ve won different ways. At the end of the day, our defense is playing their tail off, and I think people are starting to come to realize that even more, even when we’re getting these field goals (that) are keeping us in these games,” Mahomes said Monday.
“Obviously, offensively we had a better day today – a lot of yards. Now, it’s about finding ways to finish with touchdowns in the red zone so we can make these leaps bigger (and) faster and then we can really let (Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo) Spags be Spags. I think if we can do that then we’ll continue to get better and better as the years go on.”
