As the NFL regular season draws to a close, fans across the league may be wishing for a mulligan in the 2024 Draft.
Last year’s draft class has achieved no shortage of success during the 2024-25 campaign, shattering a series of franchise and league-wide rookie records through just 17 weeks of play. This isn’t to say, however, that some players haven’t lived up to the monumental expectations placed on them given when they were taken off the board.
While hindsight is always 20/20, droves of general managers might be kicking themselves for passing on several of the biggest stars in the 2024 Draft. If given a second chance, Mirror U.S. Sports believes that the top-10 picks would shape out far differently.

With the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Bears would still select their franchise quarterback of the future. Rather than taking Caleb Williams, however, Chicago would opt for Jayden Daniels, who leads all rookie quarterbacks this year in yards per game (220.6), completion percentage (69.4), passer rating (101.2) and touchdowns with 25 (minimum five games played).
Fortunately for Williams, the USC-product wouldn’t fall too far down the draft board. The Washington Commanders would select him with the No. 2 overall pick, thus providing the 23-year-old with a far more comfortable landing spot than Chicago.
Similar to the actual outcome last April, the New England Patriots would stick with their gut and draft quarterback Drake Maye. While his stats this season don’t exactly jump off the page – the 22-year-old has completed 225-of-337 passes for 2,276 yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions – he’s shown flashes of brilliance despite having one of the most lackluster supporting casts in the NFL.

The Arizona Cardinals, meanwhile, would select wide receiver Malik Nabers as opposed to Marvin Harrison Jr. Despite catching passes from four different signal-callers this season, the LSU standout has still managed to reel in 104 catches for 1,140 yards and six touchdowns entering the regular season finale.
One pick later, the Los Angeles Chargers would draft Brock Bowers, thereby providing quarterback Justin Herbert with yet another offensive weapon. The star tight end currently ranks second among all rookies with 1,144 receiving yards, and would make a formidable one-two punch alongside first-year wideout Ladd McConkey.
With Nabers now off the board, the New York Giants would draft another wideout who’s shined this year in Brian Thomas Jr. The 22-year-old has proven to be one of the most productive pass-catchers in the NFL, leading all rookies with 1,179 receiving yards as of writing.
At pick No. 7, the Titans would officially shut the door on the Will Levis experiment by selecting quarterback Bo Nix. The 24-year-old has enjoyed a dominant rookie campaign with the Denver Broncos, throwing for 3,454 yards and 25 touchdowns – more than double the amount of scores that the Tennessee signal-caller has amassed through the air.
As for the Falcons, they would look to improve their meagre defense, which is tied for 28th in the NFL in sacks per game (1.9) and 20th in opponent points per game (23.7). With the No. 8 overall pick, Atlanta would select pass rusher Jared Verse, the heavy favorite to win Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Using their second pick in the top-10, the Bears would look to add more protection around Daniels – a luxury they didn’t provide Williams, who actively ranks as the most sacked quarterback in the NFL with 67. Chicago would draft offensive tackle Joe Alt, who boasts an overall grade of 78.5 per PFF.
To conclude the first 10 picks, the Vikings would refrain from selecting quarterback J.J. McCarthy thanks to Sam Darnold’s late-career resurgence. Instead, Minnesota would add standout cornerback Quinyon Mitchell to their already stout defensive unit led by Brian Flores.
