The New York Giants are officially unable to secure the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after the Cleveland Browns lost to the Baltimore Ravens.

On Saturday, Lamar Jackson continued to press home his MVP credentials as he led the Ravens to a crushing 35-10 win over the Browns. Jackson threw for 217 yards and two touchdowns while Derrick Henry rushed for 138 yards and two scores himself as the Ravens claimed the AFC North title.

Meanwhile, the Browns solidified themselves as a high pick in the upcoming draft. Cleveland entered the day sitting third overall, and the defeat locked in a top-three pick in next year’s draft.

Heading into the final Sunday of the 2024 NFL season, the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft will be made by either the New England PatriotsTennessee Titans, or Browns. While the Giants can still finish with the same 3-14 record as the Browns, New York’s easier schedule and head-to-head record officially rules the NFC East franchise out of the running for the top pick.

Traveling to Pennsylvania to take on the Philadelphia Eagles, the Giants are still incentivized to lose; Big Blue can pick as high as No. 2 overall if the Patriots and Titans defeat the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans, respectively. Victory over the Eagles would be catastrophic and could potentially send the Giants to the No. 9 pick.

The Browns leapfrogging the Giants in the draft order is doubly frustrating as Cleveland could be in the running to take a quarterback. The Deshaun Watson contract is horrible, and his Achilles tear will likely see the 29-year-old miss most of the 2025 season, providing the perfect opportunity for Cleveland to carry out a much-needed reset.

With the franchise desperately needing a quarterback, the Giants have been linked to both Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Florida’s Cam Ward. But the Browns may have the pick of the litter, and both prospects could be off the board by the time the Giants are on the clock should the Titans also decide to upgrade at the quarterback position.

Before defeating the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17, the Giants were in pole position to land a top pick. But the upset win, coupled with other results, means New York is locked out of the No. 1 overall pick before taking to the field a week later.

The 3-13 Giants face the 13-3 Eagles – who are set to rest Saquon Barkley ahead of the playoffs – in their final regular season contest on Sunday, Jan. 5.
