Kyle Van Noy hit back at missing out on the Pro Bowl by securing an extra $250,000 after tallying his 12th sack of the season.

On Saturday, the Baltimore Ravens dominated the Cleveland Browns in an AFC North showdown. The division title was set to be secured with a win at home against the Browns, and the Ravens closed in on a home playoff game thanks to contributions from Lamar Jackson and Van Noy.

Late in the first quarter, Van Noy fell to the floor as he pursued Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson. However, the veteran outside linebacker quickly got back to his feet and wrapped up Thompson-Robinson, triggering the contract incentive.

Van Noy celebrated his money-making play by gesturing as if he was making it rain with cash. The two-time Super Bowl champion was clearly away at what the sack means to him, as he moved to 12.5 sacks on the season and surpassed the 12-sack, $250,000 bonus in his contract.

Van Noy, who enjoyed the bulk of his career success with the New England Patriots, languished as a free agent throughout the entire 2023 offseason. He waited until late September, when the Ravens suffered a number of injuries at the linebacker position.

Baltimore signed the 33-year-old and he immediately rewarded their faith with nine sacks in 2023. He continued his scorching form in 2024, notching a career-high 12.5 sacks as Van Noy exceled as a pure edge-rusher for a Ravens defense that has stepped up in recent weeks.

Van Noy has already secured $500,000 on top of his $5.25 million salary in 2024 based on sacks and playing time. If he can tally another 1.5 sacks against the Browns, he would hit 14 on the year and trigger another $250,000 payout.

Despite his outstanding production, Van Noy missed out on what would have been a first nomination to the Pro Bowl in his career. He was selected as an alternate, but admitted the omission hurt given his form. He told reporters: “I was pretty disappointed. But, you know, it’s not in the cards. I’ve always been a team guy, but it would’ve been cool to get an accolade.”

Instead of Van Noy, Pittsburgh Steelers phenom T.J. Watt and Denver Broncos star Nick Bonitto were named the AFC’s starters at outside linebacker. Former Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack of the Los Angeles Chargers was also named as a reserve, which was a surprising choice given he has just six sacks in 2024.

Van Noy’s performances this season is particularly impressive given he suffered a fractured orbital bone in Week 1. He declined season-ending surgery, instead playing through the pain at a remarkably high level.

“I don’t think people know how crazy of a season I’ve had and was doing it with a broken face for eight weeks,” Van Noy said. “I still can’t believe I did it myself, but I’m glad I did it. It didn’t feel good.”
