Jeremiah Smith had the perfect response after putting in another incredible performance for Ohio State in his first playoff game.

The true freshman had 102 yards on six catches for two touchdowns and looked un-guardable throughout the evening, before he had taken to social media to laugh off the idea that he’d be shut down by one of Tennessee’s star cornerbacks.

The Volunteers’ Jermod McCoy has been one of college football’s more impressive defensive backs this seeason, with PFF College posting a graphic of both players statistics and asking their fans who will win the matchup – before Smith went on to dominate. And after the game, he re-shared the post while writing: “Yea ight”.

Smith now has over 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns in his first year in college football in what has been one of the best season’s by a true freshman receiver in NCAA history, with Buckeyes head coach heaping praise on him after the game.

Day said: “He’s special. He’s a very very good player. But he’s a better person. His work ethic is off the charts. He’s tough. Nobody’s worked hard in the last three weeks. I mean he did not like losing that game [against Michigan]. He came out with an attitude today, with a toughness and a physicality about him.”

Despite joining a loaded Ohio State offense, including having potential first-round wide receiver in this upcoming class in Emeka Egbuka, it is Smith who has been the number one option for quarterback Will Howard this year.

The first-cousin of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith, Jeremiah is likely to be apart of what looks to be one of the more loaded draft classes in years in 2027, alongside fellow true freshman superstar receiver Ryan Williams (Alabama), and three exciting quarterbacks in Arch Manning (Texas), Dylan Raiola (Nebraska) and DJ Lagway (Florida).

But for now, Smith will have all his attentions towards winning a National Championship with the Buckeyes this year, with Ohio State advancing to the second round after their win over Tennessee, now being set to face number-one seeded Oregon in a brutal matchup.
