Jalen Hurts was taken out of the Philadelphia Eagles’ game with the Washington Commanders after being hit in the head by middle linebacker duo Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu.

Hurts‘ head also could be seen hitting the ground before being taken out of the game to be evaluated in the blue tent, being checked for a concussion before subsequently being ruled out.

It appears to be a precautionary decision by the Eagles, with Hurts having his helmet on after coming out of the tent and practicing his throwing while looking to be okay.

The Eagles are aiming to keep their quarterback healthy ahead of the postseason while needing just one win in their final three regular season games to win their division.

That will mean that Philadelphia will get at least one home game in the playoffs, while still being in contention to win the number one seed and that all important bye week in the first weekend of the postseason.

Kenny Pickett came in for Hurts

Hurts has, somewhat quietly, put in another impressive season with the Eagles this year, currently scoring 36 touchdowns (rushing and throwing) to just five interceptions, with the highest quarterback rating of his career at 104.5.

But he’ll have to return to the team next weekend if he has any chance of getting into the MVP conversation amongst the likes of Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Saquon Barkley.

The Eagles will also need Hurts to come back if they are to keep up with the Detroit Lions to win the number one seed, with both teams currently having a 12-2 record – looking far and away the favorites to be in the NFC Championship game.

With Hurts out of the game against the Commanders, Pickett had performed admirably through the first-half with 84 yards and a touchdown and an interception on 8-of-11 passing attempts.
