Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has dashed speculation that he could form part of a “package deal” for son Shedeur’s prospective suitors in the NFL.

The quarterback sensation has been tipped by many observers to be the no. 1 overall pick when the draft comes around next April. The 22-year-old has shone under the tutelage of his father at the University of Colorado Boulder, tallying up 3,926 passing yards, 35 touchdown throws and eight interceptions in 12 outings in 2024.

Following two wins so far all season, the New York Giants are currently top of the order in terms of first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft – with the Las Vegas Raiders having previously been in that position heading into Week 16. As Shedeur continues to impress at collegiate level, it remains to be seen where his future lies in the next calendar year.

In recent times, speculation has abounded that dad Deion could follow his son to his next destination in the NFL and assume the reins as head coach of his prospective team. However, the man known as “Prime Time” has now denied those rumors as he confessed: “I have not spoken to anyone about a package deal.

“We are trying to work something out here as you speak. I am not going to lie about that. “I have one of the best, if not the best AD [Athletic Director] in the country in Rick George. I am confident that we are going to get something done, to keep me here so we can bring this wonderful city a National Championship and I can put my face on top of that mountain.”

“I just want them happy, in the right situation to soar,” he added, while also adding: “The goal is to [be drafted] before I did. And he is gonna eclipse that because I was the fifth pick. He is certainly going to be one or two or whatever he is going to be. So that is what he wants.”

Previous to this, the two-time Super Bowl winner did suggest that he expects his son to be the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft. Speaking on “The Pacman Jones Show”, he asserted: “Shedeur’s going to be the No. 1 pick.

“The Giants are not going to give up their pick. See, that’s when the game starts to play. The Raiders could go with Cam [Ward], or it could be some junk in the game and the Raiders could take [Hunter]… or they could slide back.”

As for other son Hunter, “Coach Prime” sent out a warning to potential suitors in the NFL, saying: “He’s going to do that [play both ways], or they shouldn’t draft him. Don’t draft him if you’re not gonna give him the opportunity to play on both sides of the ball. Be creative; he doesn’t have to play every snap like he did here, but he’s a two-way player.”
