Soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo refused to shut down the possibility that he could line up with his son one day – after basketball great LeBron James made history by sharing the floor with Bronny last month.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend’s legacy has long been secure following a glittering career which has seen him win four NBA MVP titles, alongside four championships. However, taking to the court alongside his son versus the Minnesota Timberwolves earned the league’s greatest-ever scorer represented another unique feat.

As the pair checked into proceedings during the second quarter of the season opener, they became the first ever father-son duo in NBA history. In all, Lakers hero James played for two-and-a-half minutes alongside Bronny, with the landmark moment inspiring rapturous cheers within Crypto.com Arena.

Now, former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward Ronaldo has addressed whether it is an ambition of his to star alongside his 14-year-old son before the end of his career. Cristiano Jr currently plays in Al Nassr’s youth set up since his father’s move to the Saudi Pro League outfit in 2023.

During a conversation with internet sensation Mr Beast on YouTube, the influencer queried: “It’s crazy how LeBron is now playing with his son, are you making to make that happen in the football world?”, to which the Portugeuse soccer icon responded: “Maybe, I’ll see. He is 14 now.”

The viral superstar then asked: “Maybe get him to play when he’s 17, so you’d have to play for three more years,” to which Ronaldo remained coy as he admitted he would have to assess his fitness in the coming years, adding: “Let’s see, let’s see how my legs are doing, we’ll see.”

Speaking about his long-term career plans, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner acknowledged: “I just want to enjoy [myself]. Plan for retirement? If it has to happen, in one or two years… I don’t know. I’m turning 40 soon. I really want to enjoy, as long as I feel motivated I keep going. The day I don’t feel motivated, I will retire.”

As for the aforementioned LeBron, he said of playing alongside his son: “Just pure joy, man. I don’t have any words. I can speak about me. You guys ask me questions about me. When it comes to him, I’m just at a loss for words. Just super proud. Super proud of him to get to this point. He’s a man. He’s ready to go.”

“That moment, us being at the scorer’s table together and checking in together, it’s a moment I’m never going to forget, the proud dad continued. “No matter how old I get, no matter how my memory may fade as I get older or whatever, I will never forget that moment.”

Meanwhile, Bronny said of the experience: “(I) tried not to focus on everything that’s going on around me, and tried to focus on going in as a rookie and not trying to mess up. But yeah, I totally did feel the energy, and I appreciate Laker Nation for showing the support for me and my dad.”
