The New York Yankees are sitting comfortably at 2-0 after a 6-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday.
The Yankees took a 3-0 lead after two innings thanks to an error that brought home Gleyber Torres and a pair of RBI from Alex Verdugo and Aaron Judge. Cleveland got on the board with a pair of runs in the fifth, which ultimately wasn’t too much damage done considering it had the bases loaded with no outs.
New York added to its lead in the sixth after an Anthony Rizzo double combined with a fielding error led to Anthony Volpe scoring. In the seventh Judge finally hit his first home run of the postseason in the seventh to score two runs and make it a 6-2 lead. The Guardians had a solo homer in the ninth, but it was too little, too late.
It hasn’t been the best postseason for Judge, but his first homer came at a good time and it could be exactly what he needs to build some momentum.
After the Game 2 win, fans praised Judge for getting back on track and hyped the Yankees for taking a 2-0 lead.
New York still needs a pair of wins to advance to the World Series for the first time since 2009, but Yankees fans have to feel good about their chances after a pair of wins to start the series.
