Additionally, the pair engaged in a public disagreement over the team’s pre-snap cadence, with each offering differing opinions to the media on how the offense should operate.
Adding fuel to the fire, reports from WFAN indicated that Rodgers and Saleh had a heated exchange after a press conference, with Rodgers allegedly avoiding eye contact with his head coach. While these reports remain unconfirmed, they further contribute to the growing narrative of a strained relationship.

Ultimately, the friction between Rodgers and Saleh came to a head, with the Jets becoming the first team of the 2024 season to fire their head coach. Despite Saleh’s defensive acumen and the team’s strong performances on that side of the ball, it appears that his relationship with Rodgers—who was brought in to revitalize the Jets’ offense—was a factor in his dismissal.
Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has been named interim head coach, and the Jets are looking to move forward quickly. Ironically, despite the off-field drama, the team still has a shot at taking first place in the AFC East if they can secure a win against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football next week.
