KSI, a leading YouTube star-turned-boxer, has openly criticized the widely debated Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight where the 58-year-old boxing legend faced defeat.
The event, which took place on November 16, showcased Paul who is 27 triumphing over the veteran Tyson via unanimous decision after going head-to-head for eight rounds of two minutes each. It marked Tyson’s comeback to boxing after nearly two decades.
His prior official bout was in 2005 when Paul was a mere eight years old.
“I thought it stunk,” KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, told BANG Showbiz this week. “What was the point of him fighting Mike Tyson, an OAP who has no right to be in the ring at that age?”
Tyson’s first step into the professional boxing scene dates back to 1985, a full twelve years before Paul’s birth. KSI continued: “I’m sorry, no. I did not agree with it, and the outcome was so obvious. I knew some people who actually bet on Mike Tyson winning, and I was just calling them stupid.
“I was like, ‘Are you serious?’ A prime Jake Paul in the time of his life is going to easily beat Mike Tyson, who is old.” KSI capped off his condemnation of the buzz-generating fight, which pulled in a staggering 65 million viewers on Netflix, saying “It’s pathetic. It was pathetic.”
KSI has previously faced off against Paul’s brother, Logan, in two bouts. The Brit has openly expressed his desire to take on the younger Paul in the ring but admitted to struggling with weight issues.
“I’d love to fight Jake Paul, but I just can’t get the weight sorted,” he revealed.
