After NFL insider Adam Schefter let out a sudden, cryptic Oh boy on The Pat McAfee Show, McAfee was forced to hang up the phone on his guest after an attempt to pry for the secret information.
Schefter joined the show during a live segment to discuss the Indianapolis Colt’s ongoing quarterback issues. The conversation was originally meant to address whether the Colts should continue developing rookie Anthony Richardson or pivot to the seasoned veteran Joe Flacco.
The conversation took a turn when Schefter’s eyes widened as if he had read something Earth-shattering on his phone, leading him to say, Oh boy, on air. With viewers glued to his reaction and hoping to learn some breaking news, Schefter easily regained his composure, insisting the outburst was due to a flu shot or an issue with his contact lens.
McAfees crew found the response to be suspicious as they laughed it off. But the host didn’t leave the topic alone and continued pressuring Schefter as he investigated the shock reaction. After the segment ended, McAfees curiosity continued, leading him to call Schefter live on the air, this time by phone. “Hey, we’re still on air. Hey, listen, are you gonna break that ‘Oh boy’ news today? Should we be looking on the lookout for something,” he said.
The NFL insider remained reserved about the news with McAfee asking if he could at least be prompted if any news would be released within the day. Schefter said, “I’m trying. I’m waiting, but it’s not ready yet. It’s a busy league. There’s a lot of stuff going on. That’s what I got for you right now,” McAfee responded, “Oh boy, this guy stinks. That was a big reaction twice.” He hung up the phone, said, “I’m done with him,” and threw his hands in the air, conceding that Schefter wouldn’t budge on the information.
Wild guesses flew around with some fans theorizing that the Detroit Lions might be looking to make a trade to bolster their defensive line. Just three minutes after McAfees interview clip went viral, Schefter tweeted that the Baltimore Ravens acquired wide receiver Diontae Johnson from the Carolina Panthers. McAfee tweeted, “That is Oh Boy.”
With the NFL trade deadline quickly approaching on Nov. 5, teams across the league are pushing to make last-minute moves that could transform their playoff and title hopes. Several trades have sent major players to new homes in recent weeks,
DeAndre Hopkins landed with the Kansas City Chiefs, giving Patrick Mahomes a new veteran weapon as their passing offense continues to struggle. The New York Jets upgraded their passing game with the addition of Davante Adams, hoping he can reconnect with Aaron Rodgers to produce magic.
Cam Akers joined the Minnesota Vikings to help its run game, while the Buffalo Bills added Amari Cooper to help out Josh Allen. After the deadline, teams will be stuck with their roster for the remainder of the year.
