Netflix is still searching for their perfect NFL broadcast duo after Fox Sports rejected a request to hire Tom Brady.

Just months after the 47-year-old former NFL star’s headline-making comedy roast on the streaming giant, the New York Post reported that Brady and his Fox Sports colleague Kevin Burkhardt were Netflix’s first choice for their upcoming NFL debut.

Back in May, the Wall Street Journal reported back that Netflix had agreed to pay $150 million for two of the NFL’s 2024 Christmas Day games — Chiefs vs. Steelers and Ravens vs. Texans.

On Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Post reported that Brady was deemed off limits for hire by Fox when Netflix requested to hire him for their Christmas day games.

According to the Post, Netflix is now looking at Ian and Noah Eagle, Greg Olsen and Nate Burleson for their Christmas day programming, though no deals have been finalized.

Ian, 55, is 27-year-old Noah’s father and a longtime CBS Sports broadcast talent alongside Burleson, 43. CBS Sports will serve as a third party producer for Netflix’s Christmas games, according to the Post.

Noah recently impressed networks with his play-by-play calls for NBC at the 2024 Paris Olympics after serving as the radio voice of the Los Angeles Clippers for years. He has also called the Super Bowl broadcast for Nickelodeon consecutive years.

Brady made his debut in the broadcast booth for Fox Sports on Sept. 8 to mixed reviews.

The former Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s performance was deemed rocky at times by critics as he appeared to struggle to find words, even burping at one point during the first quarter of the Dallas Cowboys’ 33-17 win over the Cleveland Browns, per Sports Illustrated.

“I’m learning a lot, believe me,” Brady laughed near the end of the game when Burkhardt joked about how he had predicted a low-scoring game before the Cowboys went on to blowout the Browns.

“Well, Tom Brady is even wrong once in a while,” Burkhardt quipped. “How about that?”
