“North Carolina Woman Reunites with Mother-in-Law After Hurricane Helene Thanks to Security Camera Footage”
A North Carolina woman made a miraculous connection with her mother-in-law during Hurricane Helene, all thanks to a security camera. In an exclusive interview with USA Today, Vignette Truett, 24, shared how she and her husband, Isaac, 28, had been trying to contact his family in Burnsville for four long days without any luck.
Everything changed when, from their hotel room in nearby Boone, Vignette noticed movement detected by the security camera in their bedroom.
The camera captured Truett’s mother-in-law, whose name remains undisclosed, joyfully playing with their pets. Soon after, the family was able to communicate with her through the device’s speaker.
“When we finally saw her and heard her voice, we started crying,” Truett recounted to the outlet.
Hurricane Helene struck just three weeks after Truett’s wedding, amplifying her concerns about her loved ones’ safety. In an interview with PEOPLE on Thursday, Oct. 3, she expressed, “I was very lucky to have married into such an amazing family and group of friends that my future holds many more memories to carry alongside them.” She added that she and her husband planned to travel safely back home the next day.
