During the NFL international matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Jets on Sunday, October 6, in London, Vikings safeties Camryn Bynum and Josh Metellus brought some Hollywood flair to the field. After Bynum intercepted a pass from Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the first quarter, the two teammates celebrated by reenacting a routine that will be instantly familiar to any fan of the 1998 Disney movie The Parent Trap.
The celebration was a playful nod to the iconic handshake performed by Lindsay Lohan’s character Annie and her butler, Martin, played by Simon Kunz, in the beloved film.
Bynum and Metellus nailed the choreography, complete with synchronized hand slaps, hip bumps, and a picture-perfect pose to cap it off.
Fans were thrilled by the lighthearted tribute, quickly taking to social media to show their approval. “Omg do I have to become a Vikings fan now?????” one fan joked. Another noted, “The best part of this is their teammates in the background happily watching ?.” A third fan praised the creativity of the players, writing, “Can’t believe no one had thought of this sooner lol.” One particularly dedicated fan even went so far as to overlay the Parent Trap clip on top of the Vikings safeties’ dance, complete with the movie’s classic tune “Soulful Strut.”

Bynum, known for his energetic on-field dance celebrations, had been planning this homage for some time. Following the game, he shared the inspiration behind the playful moment. “We’re on a generational celebration run right now, three weeks in a row,” Bynum said during a post-game press conference, according to Sports Illustrated. “We’ve had some fire celebrations, but this might have been one of my favorites just because that’s one of my favorite movies and it’s based in London.”
Bynum revealed that the idea struck him while preparing for the game, after watching The Parent Trap ahead of the Vikings’ London appearance. “As soon as I knew we were playing in London, and I watched The Parent Trap last week, I’m like, ‘This is it,’” he explained. He noted that he and his teammates expect turnovers, so they always have a celebration ready to go. “Just being able to have those things ready, because we expect to have these turnovers and we’re always preparing.”
Bynum is no stranger to creative celebrations. Just a few weeks earlier, he performed Usher’s “Glitch” dance after a key play during the Vikings’ September game against the Houston Texans. He also showcased his athleticism with a backflip following a fumble recovery in the Vikings’ matchup against the Green Bay Packers on September 29.
With the Vikings defeating the Jets 23-17, the team extended their undefeated record to 5-0 this season, keeping their momentum alive both on and off the field.
As for Bynum, fans can look forward to what dance moves he has in store for the rest of the season, as he teased his intention to keep the celebration streak alive. “We’ll have something ready every single week,” he promised, ensuring that the Vikings’ success will continue to be marked by both game-winning plays and unforgettable celebrations.
