Former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has vowed to ‘slaughter’ Jake Paul in their upcoming blockbuster clash on November 15
In his prime, ‘Iron Mike’ was a fearsome knockout artist and was renowned for his unmatched trash-talking skills – which often had opponents beaten before they even stepped into the ring. Speaking to World Boxing News ahead of the face-off next month, featherweight sensation Bruce Carrington suggested that Tyson’s aura could unnerve Paul.
“His aura alone can make you lose a fight before you step in a ring,” he stated. “Yeah, so Tyson says, every fight, that he’s scared, or afraid – whatever.”
“Don’t let that fool you because people who fight scared are sometimes the most dangerous fighters. They’re, like, hyper-attentive because their heart rate is so fast. They’re scared, but that makes them super focused. And those are sometimes the most dangerous fighters to fight”.
The boxing legend seems to be playing mind games with Paul as their heavyweight bout approaches. With the fight just around the corner, Tyson has made a bold promise to ‘slaughter’ his rival.
Speaking to talkSPORT, the 58-year-old declared: “He is going to be running around and I have to catch him and slaughter him”. He confidently continued: “[No, I don’t fear for him], because he is stepping into the ring.
“If my mother stepped into the ring, she has a problem with me. Whoever is in that ring they have a problem with me. Don’t go into the ring if you don’t want that problem”.
During the same conversation, Tyson did offer some kudos to Paul, acknowledging: “Good little fighter”. Yet, he pointed out: “But he’s only had ten fights. That’s considered an amateur in our field”.
Originally set for July 20, the match between Tyson and Paul was delayed after Tyson experienced an ulcer flare-up on a flight in May, rendering him medically unfit. The rescheduled event has left supporters anxious about Tyson’s well-being.
Nevertheless, the American has recently reassured everyone, stating he’s in shape and ready to step back into the ring on November 15.
