TV staple Michael Strahan is stretched thin with his current work commitments. The 52-year-old toggles between his daily hosting gig on the uber-early Good Morning America and also features alongside a host of NFL stars on FOX NFL Sunday.
The former Super Bowl champion with the New York Giants recently became a grandfather – his daughter Tanita Strahan recently gave birth to Onyx. Straham’s other daughter, Isabella, recently battled medulloblastoma, a cancerous brain tumor. After receiving the diagnosis last fall, the 20-year-old announced she was cancer-free in July.
Considering the combined strain of his job and the burgeoning complexities of his family, many wonder if Strahan would consider retiring from TV.
Even so, Strahan emphasized to Town and Country magazine that he still enjoys his work. “Ive always had those thoughts [of retirement],” he admitted.

“It will happen at some point. Its not happening anytime soon. The kids are still in school. Im empty-nesting again. I have loved having the energy and noise and arguing around the house,” Strahan joked.
“Im just so happy for Isabella to get back to college. I want her to have that sense of independence again because my kids cant grow if theyre under my shade.”
Isabella was beaming when she announced on social media she was cancer-free over the summer. “Everything was clear. Cancer-free and everything is great. I dont have another doctors appointment until October,” she said. I miss my doctors already and everyone who’s helped me because theyre all so nice.”
The elder Strahan emphasized the importance of his loved ones. “At the end of the day the most important thing is your kids, your family, your mom, your father….just to hold them close to you, and your friends as well.
“Now I wake up every day and enjoy that day, more so than looking to next week, next month, or next year.
The 52-year-old’s media career is almost as decorated as his playing one. The former defensive end racked up 141.5 sacks during a 15-year playing career, the sixth most in NFL history.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer set a then-NFL record with 22.5 sacks during a historic 2001 campaign when he also won Defensive Player of the Year.
On television, Strahan has earned two daytime Emmie awards for his work on both ABC and FOX. His commitments mean he’s on air nearly every day.
