The Illinois mansion owned by Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan is under contract to be sold after first being put on the market in 2012.
Per The Athletic’s Jenna West, the home is under contract to be sold and most recently had an asking price of $14.9 million.
West noted the actual sale price for the Highland Park mansion is unclear.
Per the official listing on Zillow, the house is 32,683 square feet with 19 bathrooms and nine bedrooms. It contains a regulation-sized basketball gym, in-ground pool, tennis court, cigar room and weight room.
The fence entering the property features Jordan’s No. 23. The entire property covers 56,000 square feet. It was originally listed in March 2012 with an asking price of $29 million.
Dennis Rodkin of Chicago Magazine noted when it was originally put on the market, the $29 million price tag was “by far the highest-priced home listed in the Chicago area.” The next-closest was a Barrington Hills estate listed for $14.9 million.
Adam Harrington and Chrissy Amaya of CBS News Chicago noted when you add up the individual numbers in the current asking price of $14,855,000, the sum is 23 (1+4+8+5+5).
Zillow’s listing noted the mansion underwent a major remodel in 2009, though it wasn’t clear what was done to the property at the time.
According to Rodkin, Jordan purchased the seven-acre lot in 1991 for $2 million. The six-time NBA champion returned to the NBA in March 1995 after a 17-month retirement. He played three more full seasons with the Bulls before retiring a second time in January 1999.
After playing two seasons with the Washington Wizards, Jordan retired for the final time after the 2002-03 campaign. He spent 13 years as the majority governor of the Charlotte Hornets from 2010 to 2023 and sold his majority share to a group led by Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin for approximately $3 billion.
