Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur angrily clashed with a Detroit Lions fan before the rivals faced each other on ‘Thursday Night Football’.
Ahead of the game between the two NFC North rivals at Ford Field, LaFleur got into it with a fan who was set to help wave the American flag sprawled across the field. The fan was on the field for the pregame ceremony but instead exchanged furious words with LaFleur as a flurry of people had to separate the two.
The interaction was picked up by NFL Network cameras, with LaFleur seemingly telling the fan to shut the —- up. The fan was clearly pleased to get a response from the Packers coach and even tried to pump up the home crowd once they collectively understood what was going down.
LaFleur was backed up by several players, including running back Josh Jacobs, while assistant coaches and NFL referees got in between the two parties before things escalated. It is unclear what sparked the feud.
It wasnt the only clash between Lions and Packers representatives ahead of the anticipated showdown. Another video, shared by NFL on Prime Video, appeared to show Lions secondary duo Kerby Joseph and Terrion Arnold getting into an exchange with Packers star tight end Tucker Kraft.
LaFleur is hoping to deliver a win that will place the Packers in a position to spectacularly usurp the Lions atop the NFC North. Green Bay is in a close battle with Detroit and the Minnesota Vikings, with the division representing the best in football this season.

LaFleur has been the Packers head coach since 2019, leading the franchise to two NFC Championship appearances and only one losing season. Speaking ahead of the game, former offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth passionately defended LaFleurs ability by pointing to the success – or lack thereof – of those who have departed the franchise.
It wasn’t that long ago we were talking about ‘Who is Matt LaFleur when Aaron Rodgers leaves the Green Bay Packers? Whitworth said during Amazon Prime’s ‘Thursday Night Football’ pregame show. Well, Luke Getsy’s been fired twice, Nathaniel Hackett’s failed twice and Aaron Rodgers has four wins in two years as a Jet.
Matt LaFleur, at worst, has nine wins two seasons in a row. He’s won a playoff game. I think we know exactly who Matt LaFleur is, and that’s a hell of a football coach.
The Packers were 9-3 before they met with the Lions. While a loss would hurt, Green Bay remain in a strong position to make the playoffs – but a win would further cement their place in the postseason.
