Madonna is honoring her late brother, Christopher “Chris” Gerard Ciccone, as a “visionary” who “danced through the madness” of life alongside her. Following confirmation of his passing from cancer on October 4 at age 63, Madonna took to Instagram on October 6 to share a heartfelt tribute to her brother, describing him as “the closest human to me for so long.”
In her emotional post, Madonna reflected on their deep bond and shared early memories of their time together. “It’s hard to explain our bond,” she wrote. “But it grew out of an understanding that we were different and society was going to give us a hard time for not following the status quo. We took each other’s hands and we danced through the madness of our childhood. In fact, dance was a kind of superglue that held us together. Discovering dance in our small Midwestern town saved me, and then my brother came along, and it saved him too.”
The post featured a collection of nostalgic photos showcasing their journey together at award shows and on set, capturing the essence of their unique relationship.
