The Randle family appears to be embracing a dramatic new chapter with excitement. Following Friday night’s blockbuster trade that saw Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, DaQuan Jeffries, and a first-round pick headed to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Karl-Anthony Towns, Kendra Randle, Julius’ wife, quickly took to social media to express her enthusiasm for the move.
Kendra re-shared a post from ESPN’s NBA account on her Instagram Stories, featuring a Photoshopped image of Julius Randle in a Timberwolves jersey. The caption read, “Minnesota could be looking scary next season,” and Kendra added a series of five heart-eye emojis, signaling her excitement and support for the relocation.
In another post, Kendra shared a projected Timberwolves starting lineup, which now includes her husband. Her caption read, “Scary hours: Minnesota, here we come,” along with celebratory emojis like ghosts, fire, and clapping hands, underscoring her positive outlook on the new opportunity.
This trade marks the end of Randle’s five-year stint with the New York Knicks. At 29, Randle had become a key figure for the team, averaging an impressive 24.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game last season. However, after undergoing shoulder surgery that cut his season short just before the playoffs, his future with the Knicks seemed uncertain.
Despite being expected to make a full recovery before the upcoming season, Randle and the Knicks had reportedly made little headway on a contract extension over the summer, as noted by ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, leaving him vulnerable to trade discussions.
On the other side, Karl-Anthony Towns brings his own intriguing storyline. The star center previously played under Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau during their time together in Minnesota.

Although the two were known for a rocky relationship, Towns assured The New York Post’s Stefan Bondy last season that their differences had been resolved. “I got no problems with Thibs. We squashed that a long time ago,” Towns said in October. “I still see him as one of the best Xs and Os coaches I’ve ever played for. He lives and breathes winning, and I have nothing but respect for him.”
Now with Towns, who has a massive $200 million left on his contract, the Knicks will benefit from his ability to stretch the floor with his 3-point shooting and his defensive prowess.
As the Timberwolves prepare to integrate Randle into their system, the upcoming season promises to bring plenty of intrigue and fresh opportunities for both franchises.
