Jimmy Fallon took on some seriously spicy chicken on the latest installment of Hot Ones with Sean Evans, but it wasn’t the comedian’s first time facing the challenge—or his most memorable.
On the Oct. 31 episode of the popular series, Fallon reminisced about the time Evans stopped by The Tonight Show in 2019 to lead him and guest Selena Gomez through a sampling of increasingly fiery snacks.
It was a wing covered in Da Bomb hot sauce that sparked the memory for Fallon.
“Oh no,” he said after taking a bite. “I remember this. This is the one that killed Selena Gomez. Do you know we almost killed Selena Gomez?”
“I remember vividly,” Evans admitted.
“You almost killed an American treasure, Selena Gomez,” Fallon continued.
“Dude, she left and ran out. I went and knocked on her dressing room door. She was throwing up in her sink and I go, ‘Selena,’ and she goes, ‘Get the f— out’ with a devil voice.”
“I’ve never seen her like that,” the late night host added. “Spit was dripping out of her mouth, and I go, ‘I’m so sorry.’ And we didn’t talk to each other for another three years.”
“That’s my favorite 30 Rock memory, ever,” Evans said while laughing.
On the Tonight Show episode in question, Gomez made it through most of the challenge before trying the wing with Da Bomb Beyond Insanity Sauce on it. At that point, her eyes started watering and she tried everything she could think of to put out the fire, from chugging milk to licking the tablecloth.
