Jake Paul has promised he’s more than ready for a ‘war’ with Mike Tyson – vibing off the buzz from a recent clip of the 58-year-old knocking out his sparring partner.
Tyson set social media ablaze last week when he shared a fiery video where he’s seen taking down his sparring partner with a lethal left hook to the body. Right after landing the punch, the scene cuts to his boxing coach, Rafael Cordeiro, calling time with: “That was good for today.”
To which an amped Tyson protests, “You sure? You ——- sure?” Flexing his fighting spirit, Tyson boasts “I’ve got a lot in me” and tosses a verbal jab at Paul: “I’m just getting started.”
Secretive about his fight prep until recently, Tyson has dropped some hints with training clips as the bout nears. The matchup with Paul is on the calendar for November 15 – an epic face-off postponed from earlier in the year due to Tyson’s battle with an ulcer flare-up.
Despite concerns swirling about Tyson’s well-being as the titanic tussle nears, his latest spar session has left fans and critics alike stunned and excited. Social media has been set alight with the footage, and now, Paul has broken his silence on the former heavyweight champ’s impressive physical form.
In a recent interview with TODAY, Paul revealed: “Tyson’s dropping people in sparring. He looks in the best shape and the strongest he’s ever been, his coaches are saying. I know on November 15, it’s going to be a war.
“But I just plan on outboxing him and showing the world what I’m capable of and coming alive in the moment and knocking out one of the best to ever do it”.
Ever since the heavyweight clash was confirmed, Paul has faced a barrage of criticism for accepting the fight. The young American once again addressed the backlash ahead of the match.
“A lot of people are wondering, ‘Jake, why are you doing this? Even if you beat him, they’re going to say he’s old’. But to me, Mike Tyson wanted to fight me”, he added. “That is an honour. He’s one of the most famous boxers in the world to ever do it. To step in there with someone of his nature is an honour and a dream come ‘true’. It’s going to be a spectacle on Netflix.”
