One day, a small orange kitten with an adorably grumpy expression found its way to a local animal shelter.
It was clear that she was feeling quite unhappy, but it didn’t take the caregivers at the San Jose Animal Care Center long to determine the cause. She was suffering from feline scabies, a frustrating condition that resulted in hair loss and intense itching. The reason behind her grumpy appearance was this uncomfortable ailment she had been struggling with.
Dr. Ostermann, a veterinarian at the animal shelter, highlighted the stark impact scabies can have on an animal by sharing the story of a small kitten. She described how the kitten appeared visibly miserable, barely moving and squinting with discomfort. The kitten’s skin was covered in crusty scabs, a clear indicator of the struggles she was facing. Thankfully, her caregivers immediately started treatment and provided her with all the care and support necessary to help her embark on a journey towards recovery and joy.
In the following month, the small kitten underwent a remarkable transformation. Upon first arriving at the shelter, she was very inactive, barely moving at all. However, now she’s bouncing around energetically, eager to engage with anyone willing to play with her.
Dr. Ostermann noticed a noticeable improvement in her mood and decrease in pain just a few weeks into her healing process.
This adorable ginger kitten tapped into a newfound source of energy, letting her playful side shine. After a successful recovery, she was spayed and made available for adoption. It didn’t take long before she was welcomed into a loving forever home.
