A South Florida family is overjoyed after their beloved dog, Angel, was rescued amidst the chaos following Hurricane Milton. The reunion, which took place Thursday, became possible thanks to a team of dedicated workers from a towing company based across the country.
Marina Taylor and her family had evacuated from their Riverview home to her son’s house in Brandon, Florida, as Hurricane Milton approached. During the hurried evacuation, Angel, one of their eight dogs, went missing. They later realized she had jumped out of the car during the drive. Despite searching for hours, the family had to stop when conditions became too dangerous.
However, Thursday morning brought a glimmer of hope. Jason Frias, owner of South Coast Towing, called Marina to inform her that they had found Angel on the side of the highway in Riverview while moving locations to assist more people. The Massachusetts-based crew had been helping in disaster relief efforts since the previous week. Upon spotting Angel in a perilous situation on Interstate 75, they quickly moved her to safety.
After seeing Marina’s post on a Facebook group for lost pets, Jason and his crew, determined to reunite Angel with her family, navigated through storm debris, even clearing downed branches to reach their destination. Though Angel was initially disoriented, she quickly returned to her happy, playful self once home.
The crew was later honored by local officers for their heroic efforts, bringing a heartwarming end to a story of survival and teamwork in the wake of a natural disaster.
