Floyd Mayweather Jr spent $20million on his three-year-old grandson this Christmas, which will see him set for life.
While most children get toys, video games and electronic devices from Santa on December 25, ‘Money’ Mayweather gifted his daughter Iyanna’s son, Kentrell Gaulden Jr, a stunning $20m building in New York City. The bustling property on 6th Avenue and 47th Street in Manhattan boasts office space, a diamond exchange, and a huge income-generated billboard – ensuring that his grandson will be looked after in terms of finances.
Speaking about the purchase, Mayweather explained: “I used to shop in the diamond exchange as a young adult. I never thought I would end up owning this important property at the entrance of 47th street…Through hard work and dedication anything is possible.”

Mayweather also uploaded a video to Instagram showing the moment Gaulden Jr found out about his Xmas gift. The 50-0 pugilist explained to the tot: “I got you a gift. Guess what I bought you? You are the first kid that owns a building in the diamond district in New York City.”
Gaulden Jr smiled before embracing his grandfather. Mayweather hung up his boxing gloves as the richest athlete to ever step foot in the ring in 2017, with a flawless record and a reported $1.2billion in career earnings. He kicked off his adventure into the world of professional boxing in October 1996, besting Roberto Apodaca via a second-round TKO, before winning his first world title in the WBC super featherweight belt just two years later and 18 fights deep into his career.
Mayweather made the step up to lightweight in 2002, winning the WBC belt with a unanimous decision win over Jose Luis Castillo, before later holding world titles at super lightweight, welterweight and light middleweight. His last fight came in the form of a mega-money showdown with UFC star Conor McGregor in August 2017, winning via a tenth-round TKO – although he has kept himself busy in the years since with exhibition bouts against the likes of Logan Paul, Deji Olatunji and Aaron Chalmers.
Mayweather’s rise to fame and fortune is a stark contrast from his early years, growing up in a one-bedroom apartment with six other relatives in New Jersey. Speaking about his upbringing to Mercury News in 2007, he explained: “When I was about eight or nine, I lived in New Jersey with my mother and we were seven deep in one bedroom and sometimes we didn’t have electricity.
“When people see what I have now, they have no idea of where I came from and how I didn’t have anything growing up.” His grandson, Gaulden Jr is the son of his daughter Iyanna and rapper NBA YoungBoy (real name Kentrell DeSean Gaulden) and was born in 2021.
