Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is a star both on and off the field, according to his coach and father.

Over eight games this season, Sanders has completed 220-of-300 passes for 2,591 yards, 21 touchdowns, and six interceptions en route to commanding the Buffaloes to a stellar 6-2 record. But it’s the signal-caller’s performance away from the gridiron that drew the most praise from Colorado head coach Deion Sanders.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Deion insisted that his son’s “heart is phenomenal” while sharing an act of kindness that Shedeur did for one of his former teammates at Colorado. “I don’t know if you know it, but we had a guy, I’m not gonna call his name, jump into the [transfer] portal – I think this offseason – that didn’t have furniture in his home,” he began.

“And although he had an NIL but he didn’t have furniture, Shedeur bought him furniture. He loaded him up.”

Unfortunately for Shedeur, the generous gesture was hardly appreciated by its recipient. “He then jumped in the transfer portal and didn’t even say thank you. Didn’t even say bye,” Deion continued. “But he [Shedeur] don’t trip. Because he’s blessed enough to do it, but that’s who this young man is.

“I call him grown [because] he’s always been mature for his age and for the stage of life that he’s in right now. He has a sense of humor, a sense of maturity, and he’s a phenomenal human being. I’m proud of him, I’m proud of him as a young man.”

As for why Deion felt the need to share the touching story, he said: “I gotta give Shedeur a tremendous amount of credit for just the young man he is, away from the game. I know you guys see him doing his thing but he been doing that since high school, man. We’ve got footage, you got receipts on that. So that’s really who he is.”

After dominating at every stage of his career thus far, it likely won’t be long before Sanders is given the opportunity to showcase his talents in the NFL. The 22-year-old confirmed just as much in a brief clip posted by Colorado’s social media team on Monday.

During the video, Colorado coaches reminded players that registration for next semester’s slate of classes was coming up. But Sanders seemingly had no interest in signing up for any more courses, clapping back: “Register for classes? I’m going to the league.”

He later added, “After last game, y’all not gonna see me [next year].”

Taking to social media, Sanders provided further clarification in regards to the comment, which promptly sent the internet into a tailspin. “I’m graduating early btw,” he wrote on X.

Many pundits across the NFL believe that Sanders will be selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft alongside two-way star and Colorado teammate Travis Hunter.
