Deion Sanders issued a blunt prediction for which team his son, Shedeur, will play for at the professional level.
While appearing on a recent episode of the ‘Nightcap’ podcast alongside co-hosts Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Sanders speculated that the Miami Dolphins could select Sheduer in the 2025 NFL Draft should quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffer another serious health setback.
“What do you do business-wise if you’re the Dolphins?” he began. “Do you take a quarterback, which is what I’m saying, or do you say, ‘Tua, let’s check this out, let’s see what we’re going to do.’ Is his health more important than that?”

Johnson eventually picked up what Sanders was putting down, realizing that the Colorado head coach was insinuating that the Dolphins would draft Sheduer in his hypothetical situation. “Let’s say because of the Tua injury and things don’t work out and it leaves an open and they make a business decision and go into the draft and boom: Shedeur to the Dolphins,” he said.
“So you just got the revelation, huh?” Sanders replied.
It remains to be seen what the future has in store for Tagovailoa, who is slated to miss his third-straight game on Sunday while continuing to recover from his third concussion in two years. The Dolphins have struggled mightily in his absence, falling to 1-3 on the season and suffering blowout losses to the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans.

According to Tankathon, the Dolphins would pick No. 2 overall in next year’s draft if the season ended today. Despite inking Tagovailoa to a four-year, $212 million extension back in July, Miami could look to find his replacement if he decides to walk away from football or sustains another concussion.
Though Sanders would seemingly embrace a union between Shedeur and the Dolphins, the 57-year-old added that there are other teams he’d like to sway his son away from. Ex-NFL quarterbacks John Elway and Eli Manning successfully managed to orchestrate which teams selected them in the draft, with the Buffaloes star perhaps next in line.
“I want what’s best for him,” Deion said of Shedeur. “I want him to be happy as well. You really don’t get to dictate where your son gets to go because there’s a draft process, but you know us. You know how we are, we know who ain’t trying to win in the NFL. You know who’s consistently in the basement year after year after year.
“You don’t want that situation for your kid or your family members. Nobody, none of them. So we know what time it is.”
This isn’t the first time that Sanders has ruled out potential suitors for Shedeur. While appearing on the ‘Million Dollaz Worth of Game’ podcast in March, he said of the signal-caller and two-way star Travis Hunter: “I know where I want them to go. So, it’s certain cities that ain’t gonna happen. It’s going to be an Eli.”
