Boston Celtics guard Derrick White was involved in a fight during Colorado football’s 28-9 road win over Colorado State on Sept. 14.

On Celtics Media Day Tuesday, the former Colorado basketball star was asked about the fracas, which featured a CSU fan knocking White’s hat off.

Ian Steele of ABC 6 in Providence relayed the quotes.

White added that he “shouldn’t have been there,” that it was “unfortunate” and he’s “moving on” from the incident.

TMZ Sports gave a rundown of what happened per a witness, who claimed that White “got into a bit of a verbal spat” with CSU fans during the second quarter.

“In the third quarter—as it became clear White’s Buffs were likely going to win—the apparent arguing turned violent … as you can see in our video, a man in a CSU hat and a Utah shirt swung his arm into the side of White’s head.

“The blow connected so hard—it knocked the hat right off White’s dome … and a huge skirmish then ensued.

“Multiple people raced in … and while White was pulled out of the mix quickly—nearly a dozen people pushed, shoved and put each other in headlocks for several moments.”

Law enforcement officers then arrived to stop the incident, and White reportedly walked away and left via stairs nearby.

The 30-year-old just enjoyed the most successful year of his professional career. He averaged 15.2 points, 5.2 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game for the 2023-24 NBA champion Celtics, who won 80 games (including playoffs). White also finished the year on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team for the second consecutive season.

He then represented Team USA in its successful quest for a fifth straight Olympic gold medal. The United States went 6-0 in Paris, capping its tournament with a 98-87 win in the final over host country France.

White and the Celtics are now gearing up for the 2024-25 season, which begins on Oct. 22 at home against the New York Knicks.
