Buffalo Bills Head Coach Offers a Brief but Telling Response to Questions About Josh Allen’s Head Injury, Keeping Fans and Analysts Guessing on the Quarterback’s Status Moving Forward .giang

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott has issued a response to those criticizing the team after Josh Allen was allowed to come back into the game after suffering a head injury.

Many had believed that the quarterback had suffered a concussion when the Bills were chasing the game against the Houston Texans this past weekend after he was brought down by a lineman after throwing downfield – with him appearing to briefly lose consciousness.

He would remain on the ground for around 10 seconds before being escorted off the field by trainers – with many believing his day to be done. But after being assessed in the blue tent, he returned to the field after missing just one play.

It was not just fans that were angered, with doctors on social media expressing their thoughts and believing the Bills should be punished for allowing him to go back in.

McDermott did not appear too happy to speak about the incident in detail, simply stating: “Josh was cleared and he went back in the game. That’s what I know from our medical staff on the sideline.” This had come one day after McDermott had said about the incident, in his post-game press conference: “Josh is a warrior. Took a pretty good hit out there, and came back for his team and his teammates.”

The Seattle Seahawks were fined $100,000 for an identical incident involving Russell Wilson in 2017, who also appeared to suffer a concussion before coming back into the game after one snap.

The play in which Allen was hurt

Allen struggled hugely in the loss to the Texans in what was his career-low completion percentage going 9-of-30 (30%) for just 131 and a touchdown. Meanwhile, CJ Stroud at the other end, threw for 338 yards while completing 28-of-38 in another impressing outing – boosting his MVP odds.

It remains to be seen whether the NFL will investigate the incident, or whether Allen will be placed into concussion protocol through the week.

The Bills dropped to 3-2 after their second consecutive loss, set to face the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.
