A special tribute to the blockbuster movie Deadpool and Wolverine has popped up at Wrexham’s renowned Turf pub.
A stained-glass window showcasing the two main characters has been installed at the pub, which is just a stone’s throw away from the Racecourse Ground and often appears in the ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘ documentary. The publicity stunt by Disney+ was perfectly timed to align with the release of the film starring Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds and fellow Hollywood star Hugh Jackman on its streaming platform.
The breath-taking window was crafted by English stained-glass artist Flora Jamieson, using artwork by illustrator Jem Ward from London. However, it seems not everyone featured in the hit superhero movie is thrilled with the glasswork.

Wrexham’s own Paul Mullin, who made a cameo in the movie as Deadpool variant Welshpool, wasn’t too pleased. The striker also plays a significant role in a promotional video for the streaming release, which shows him visiting the pub to check out the window and see his character come to life in colored glass.
In the humoros footage shared by Disney+ and Marvel on social media, Mullin is left disappointed when the window is unveiled by Turf landlord Wayne Jones, only to find his movie persona missing. He then voices his frustration, attempting to call Reynolds and saying: “I thought it was meant to be Welshpool, that’s why I’m here. Nah, you’re messing. I’m ringing Ryan.”
When Wrexham sharpshooter Mullin tried to reach out to celeb co-owner Reynolds, he got nothing but ring-backs. Mullin shared a laugh about it, quipping: “He usually answers, honestly. I think Rob (McElhenney) must be on the line or something – he won’t answer me.”

Social media users couldn’t resist poking fun, with one person jesting, “You’ve been stitched up there Mulls. Ryan Reynolds – naughty that mate.” Another chimed in with a witty retort: “I don’t know who this Paul Mullin guy is. Do you possibly mean Welshpool? “.
Mullin may not have gotten a hold of his high-profile boss, but Reynolds gave him a shout out this week by sharing a cheeky deleted snippet from his hit flick. The clip that didn’t make the cut, yet won hearts, featured Mullin hurling some choice words at Deadpool, all while rocking his Liverpool twang and delivering a two-finger salute.
Ryan spread the love for the scene across social media, captioning it with affection, “This scene was deleted from the film but not my heart.” His followers lapped it up, with the video clocking over a million views.
The Wrexham fan base has totally embraced the Mullin-Deadpool saga, hosting a Welshpool costume at their hallowed grounds for selfies. Reveling in the Deadpool mania, Mullin celebrated netting his season opener by slipping on the iconic Deadpool mask—a nod to the box office superhero smash.
