Tinseltown will transform into a traffic town later Friday, October 25, as Los Angeles hosts a wealth of blue-chip sports and entertainment events across the city sprawl – and the World Series hasn’t exactly helped things.

Surging GOAT Shohei Ohtani made the entire sports world sit up and take notice when, in August, he became the third-fastest player in Major League history to join the 30-30 club (30 home runs and 30 steals in a season) in only his 108th game. The Japanese superstar gave the Dodgers an almighty boost – and they now find themselves in the World Series, having beaten San Diego and the New York Mets in the postseason to get there.

Bringing a World Series to Los Angeles has driven excitement across Southern California, but the fixture list will also drive traffic as it adds back-to-back dates Friday and Saturday to an already congested schedule for the city, causing chaos on highways that would already have been jam-packed with cars.

Emmy-nominated comedian Roy Wood Jr., who worked on The Daily Show, looked on the bright side as he said on X, formerly Twitter, that it provides locals with the opportunity to train for the 2028 Olympics when LA hosts the Games for a record third time.

“Training for the Olympics traffic,” he said in response to the absurd amount of high-quality options for sports and music fans.

Here’s a list of the major events taking place in LA on Friday and why local drivers should plan accordingly.

  1. Game 1 of the World Series between the Dodgers and the Yankees at the 56,000-capacity Dodger Stadium a little north of the Downtown area
  2. An NBA game between the Lakers and Phoenix Suns at the 19,000-capacity Crypto.com Arena just four miles away from Dodger Stadium
  3. The college football match between USC and Rutgers at the 77,500-capacity LA Memorial Coliseum, which is three miles south of the Crypto.com Arena
  4. Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour performs at the 18,000-capacity Intuit Dome
  5. Annual East LA Classic between Roosevelt and Garfield high schools at the 70,000-capacity Sofi Stadium in Inglewood
  6. And, if that weren’t enough, there’s also the high school football game between Mater Dei and St John Bosco takes place at the 9,000-capacity Santa Ana Stadium

It’s about to get real for Friday – just as it will in four years’ time when 40 sports, their athletes, regulating bodies, media, and fans descend on LA to follow the 2028 Games.

The LA Olympics will begin on July 14, 2028, and conclude on July 30.
