Kansas City Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt has embraced Taylor Swift with open arms as the pop icon continues to attract a new wave of fans to his team.
The Hunt family has retained ownership of the Chiefs for the last 65 years, with Lamar Hunt – Clark’s father – founding the franchise under the name “Dallas Texans” in August of 1959. Three years later, the organization relocated to Kansas City and changed its name.
In 2005, Clark took over as chairman of the Chiefs, later assuming control of the team the following year after Lamar passed away due to prostate cancer-related complications. Following the resignation of executive Carl Peterson in 2010, the 59-year-old also took over as CEO.

Lamar additionally founded three Major League Soccer franchises, including the Kansas City Wizards – who now go by the name Sporting Kansas City – the Columbus Crew, and FC Dallas. Clark still owns the latter of the three teams, though the Hunt family opted to sell off the other two.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, was most recently named the 18th-most valuable franchise in the NFL at a whopping $6.07 billion in September. It seems as though Kansas City will only continue to climb the rankings, in large part thanks to the positive impact of Swift.
Last September, Swift sent shockwaves across the NFL after making a surprise appearance at a Chiefs game to cheer on boyfriend and tight end Travis Kelce. The 34-year-old has since attended many of Kansas City’s contests over the last two seasons – including Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, which she flew 10 hours from Toyko, Japan to be present for.

Speaking to Bloomberg back in August, Clark revealed that Swift’s newfound Chiefs fandom led to a 30% increase in the team’s fanbase. “I always want to point out how happy I am for Taylor and Travis in the relationship. I’ve seen them together and they make a fantastic couple,” he said before adding: “The knock-on effect has been amazing, the growth in our female fan base has been amazing over the last year.”
As a way to show their gratitude, Chiefs heiress Gracie Hunt and her family gifted Swift a bejeweled microphone clutch bag while together at Arrowhead Stadium. Discussing the songstress’ relationship with Kelce on “OutKick the Morning,” she said: “First of all, I think we’re all so excited to see two such phenomenal people happy.
“I mean, it’s so easy for us to cheer for and for the entire world to cheer for because they’re wonderful for each other, and it’s just been so fun to watch this love story unfold. That’s been so special to see how happy they are.
“She is wonderful, beautiful, brilliant, all of the things. It’s been so much fun to get to have her coming to Chiefs games.”
