BREAKING NEWS: Vikings Wide Receiver Jordan Addison Posts Cryptic Message on Instagram as Trade Deadline Approaches .giang

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison sent fans into a frenzy with a cryptic Instagram story, posting the message, “Free 3.” Given his limited usage this season, it’s easy to see why some might interpret this as a signal of frustration. The young wideout, who wears No. 3, may be hinting that he wants a larger role in the Vikings’ offense.

In five games this season, Addison has struggled to find his rhythm on the field, receiving four or fewer targets in four of those contests. His lowest point came on Thursday against the Los Angeles Rams, where he was targeted just three times, logging two catches for 22 yards in the Vikings’ 30-20 loss.

For a player who had a breakout rookie season—posting 70 receptions for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns on 108 targets—this season’s limited opportunities are a stark contrast. Addison’s production so far includes 14 catches for 231 yards and one touchdown.

Part of this reduction in output could be linked to a right ankle injury that kept him sidelined for Weeks 2 and 3, but even so, his role in the offense has remained limited.

The phrase “Free 3” holds personal significance for Addison. He’s used it as a rallying cry before, even sporting a custom chain with the phrase on draft night when he was selected 23rd overall by the Vikings in 2023. It seems to capture his determination to make an impact on the field, something that’s been difficult this season due to his relatively low target share.

Wide receivers often advocate for themselves when they feel underutilized, and Addison’s story isn’t unique.

His teammate, Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson, recently expressed his own frustration with limited big-yard games. “I’m definitely sick of having these 80, 90-yard games,” Jefferson told the Associated Press.

He shared his desire to reach the 100-yard mark more consistently and emphasized the Vikings’ need to capitalize on the explosive plays available to them on the field. Jefferson’s comments seem to have been heeded; against the Rams, he recorded eight receptions for 115 yards, showing a clear effort by the Vikings to get him more involved early, including three catches for 44 yards on the opening drive.

As the Vikings prepare for a Sunday Night Football matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on November 3, fans are wondering if Addison might get his turn to shine.

With Jefferson’s needs addressed, the team may look to involve Addison more heavily, especially given his impressive rookie year and the potential he brings as a downfield threat.

For now, “Free 3” is likely a simple message of a young receiver hoping for his chance, but it could be a hint of things to come if Addison gets the opportunities he’s been waiting for.
