Did Troy Aikman take a subtle shot at the Dallas Cowboys during Monday night’s game? It certainly seemed that way. While commentating on ESPN’s broadcast of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Baltimore Ravens game at Raymond James Stadium, Aikman couldn’t help but praise Derrick Henry, who had a standout performance for the Ravens.
Much like quarterback Lamar Jackson, Henry played a crucial role in helping Baltimore dominate the game.
Henry’s defining moment came in the third quarter when he broke free for an 81-yard run, getting the Ravens out of a tough spot near their own end zone while leading 27-10. Four plays later, Baltimore scored a touchdown, extending their lead to 34-10.
As Aikman marveled at Henry’s explosive play, he seemed to take a thinly veiled jab at his former team, the Dallas Cowboys.
“There’s gotta be a lot of teams out there that had opportunities to bring in Derrick Henry that are kind of kicking themselves for not doing it,” Aikman remarked. “But he has been an absolute perfect fit for this Ravens attack.”

The Cowboys were frequently linked to Henry during the offseason, especially since the veteran running back trains in the Dallas area and reportedly wanted to be drafted by the Cowboys out of Alabama.
However, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stated that the team couldn’t afford Henry, which led to Baltimore securing him instead.
Aikman, a legendary former Cowboys quarterback, has clearly not forgotten this missed opportunity. His comment seemed to suggest that the Cowboys might be regretting their decision not to bring in Henry, who has proven to be a game-changer for the Ravens.
Fans and analysts alike were quick to speculate whether Aikman’s words were a subtle critique of the Cowboys’ front office and their inability to land the star running back.
