Fans tuning into the Christmas Eve special of the New Heights podcast, hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce, were met with plenty of holiday cheer—but no mention of Taylor Swift. Despite Swift’s high-profile relationship with Travis and her recent public appearances at his games, the 14-time Grammy winner wasn’t part of the festive episode’s conversation, which included Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce, as the special guest.
A Holiday-Focused Episode
During the hour-long episode, the Kelce brothers and Kylie dove into lighthearted holiday topics, sharing family traditions and seasonal favorites. Swift, who was last seen at Arrowhead Stadium on December 21 cheering on Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs during their victory over the Houston Texans, was notably absent from the discussion.
This marked a shift from earlier in December, when Travis attended an Eras Tour-themed party celebrating the conclusion of Swift’s marathon tour. The party, which coincided with Swift’s 35th birthday on December 13, featured photos of the couple dancing and enjoying the evening together, further fueling public interest in their relationship.
Fans Anticipated a Special Guest
Leading up to the episode, Jason and Travis teased listeners with the promise of a “very special” guest, sending fans into a frenzy of speculation. Many hoped Swift herself would make an appearance, given her recently freed schedule after finishing her tour. However, even Swift’s devoted fans, known as Swifties, began guessing the guest might instead be WNBA star Caitlin Clark.
Instead, the episode featured Kylie Kelce, a returning guest on the podcast and a fan favorite in her own right. This was her first appearance on New Heights since launching her own podcast, Not Gonna Lie, which has quickly gained traction for its candid discussions and humor.
Kylie’s Candid Contributions
Kylie’s appearance brought a blend of warmth and humor to the holiday special. She shared her favorite holiday movie, Love Actually, much to the chagrin of her husband, Jason, who expressed his distaste for the romantic comedy.
“Love Actually is one of my favorite movies, period,” Kylie said. “Not just as a holiday film.”
Jason disagreed, prompting Travis to jump in. “Jason, you might be the oddball out here,” Travis said. “I actually enjoyed Love Actually.”
Kylie couldn’t resist a playful jab at her husband. “Jason wouldn’t know romance if it smacked him square in the face,” she joked.
Kylie’s Rise as a Podcaster
While Kylie’s banter with the Kelce brothers entertained listeners, her own podcast success has also drawn attention. In a recent New York Times interview, Kylie attributed her show’s early momentum to its honest and unfiltered nature, contrasting it with larger platforms like Joe Rogan’s.
“Maybe it’s the promise that you’re not going to get lied to,” she said, explaining why audiences have connected with her content.
She added, “I couldn’t care less about the charts. I’m focused on putting out content that people like to consume. If that puts us at the top spot for a week, cool. If it’s longer than that, cool. But I’m not feeding into unnecessary conflict to stay relevant.”
A Quiet End to 2024 for the Kelces
While Swift’s absence from the podcast might have disappointed some listeners, the Kelce brothers and Kylie delivered a fun and festive episode, keeping the focus on family and the holiday season.
As the Chiefs continue their pursuit of a third straight Super Bowl title, Travis Kelce remains a central figure both on and off the field.
Whether Swift joins New Heights in the future remains to be seen, but for now, the Kelce family is happy to keep things grounded in humor, heart, and holiday cheer.
