Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are reportedly considering a surprising joint venture into sports team ownership, potentially mirroring the path of their friends Patrick and Brittany Mahomes. According to a recent report by Life & Style, the couple is exploring ways to grow their influence and wealth together, and entering the sports business could be one of those moves.
The Mahomeses, who share ownership of the Kansas City Current women’s soccer team, have set an example close to home. Patrick Mahomes also owns a stake in the Kansas City Royals, showing how a high-profile sports couple can successfully transition into team ownership.
Inspired by this, Kelce and Swift are reportedly planning a series of strategic ventures to build their brand and financial power. Their journey may start with launching a joint alcohol brand, leveraging their shared love for crafting cocktails, according to the report.
A source revealed, “The sky is the limit for what they could achieve together with their combined reach. They’re looking at all sorts of opportunities, and the liquor business is a natural fit. But it doesn’t stop there. They’re looking at everything from a production company to co-owning a sports team, with the ultimate goal of expanding their influence and financial portfolio.”
While NFL team ownership might be a challenge for Kelce, he has hinted in the past about his interest in following Tom Brady’s footsteps, not only as an owner but potentially as a football analyst.
On his New Heights podcast with brother Jason, Kelce discussed his dream of broadcasting NFL games once he retires. However, as Brady learned, owning even a small share of an NFL team comes with its challenges. When Brady recently secured a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, the NFL placed specific restrictions on his activities, requiring him to avoid team headquarters during the week of a game he might cover and to refrain from publicly criticizing officiating decisions.
Kelce commented on these restrictions, acknowledging the difficulties but also expressing hope that solutions could be found: “I want to broadcast when I’m done playing and call the games. It could be tough with ownership, but Brady’s deal shows that a path exists.”
Though purchasing a share of his current team, the Kansas City Chiefs, may be financially out of reach, a smaller ownership stake in another sport, like basketball or hockey, might be more feasible.
Kelce has also showcased his broad love for sports. Recently spotted with Swift at a Yankees-Guardians playoff game in New York, he has previously expressed interest in hockey and basketball as well.
