Tom Brady has been retired from the NFL for over a year, but that didn’t stop Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis from making a stunning request behind closed doors—asking the seven-time Super Bowl champion if he’d consider returning to the field one more time.
According to The Mirror, Brady was caught off guard during a recent meeting with Raiders leadership when Davis floated the idea of the now-Fox Sports broadcaster making a second comeback.
The 47-year-old was reportedly uncertain whether Davis was joking or serious, but what’s clear is that the Raiders are still searching for their quarterback of the future.
While Brady laughed off the idea, he made it clear that he has no intention of stepping back onto the field, instead choosing to focus on his role in the front office as a minority owner.
Brady’s Retirement Stands—Despite Ongoing Speculation
This isn’t the first time Brady’s return to the gridiron has been a topic of discussion. After initially retiring in 2022, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots quarterback famously reversed his decision after 40 days, returning for one final season with the Bucs.
However, when he announced his second retirement in 2023, he assured fans that this time it was “for good.”
Despite his firm stance, speculation has never truly died down. Whether it’s Brady himself teasing a return on social media or fans clamoring for him to come back every time a quarterback gets injured, his legendary career still looms over the league.

Why the Raiders Are Desperate for a QB Solution
The Raiders’ quarterback struggles were on full display during their dismal 4-13 season in 2024. Aidan O’Connell, who started for much of the year, failed to lead the team to playoff contention, leaving the Raiders in urgent need of a long-term answer at QB.
Las Vegas has been linked to top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, particularly Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. However, holding the No. 6 overall pick, the team would likely need to trade up to secure one of the draft’s best prospects.
If they decide to stay put at No. 6, the Raiders could target another quarterback option, such as Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, or they may explore the open market. Veteran QBs like Matthew Stafford and Justin Fields are expected to be available, providing alternative routes for the team’s rebuild.
Brady’s Influence in the Raiders’ Front Office
Though he won’t be suiting up in silver and black, Brady’s impact on the Raiders is already being felt. He has reportedly been involved in key organizational decisions, including the hiring of Pete Carroll as the team’s new head coach. As a minority owner, Brady’s football IQ and leadership experience are seen as invaluable assets in shaping the team’s future.

No Comeback, Just More Teasing
At 47 years old, the idea of Brady returning to the field seems more unrealistic than ever—but that won’t stop the speculation. Whether it’s Davis jokingly offering him a roster spot or fans pleading for one last season, Brady remains a constant presence in the football world.
For now, he’ll stick to teasing fans online while helping guide the Raiders from the owner’s box—not the huddle.
