Tom Brady’s post-NFL career appears to be taking a dramatic turn, as new reports suggest the legendary quarterback will be stepping into a full-time leadership role with the Las Vegas Raiders next season, effectively ending his tenure as an analyst with Fox Sports.
According to former MLB executive David Samson, Brady’s increasing involvement with the Raiders, where he is a minority owner, has created a conflict that will force him to leave his lucrative broadcasting deal with Fox. Brady signed a 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox Sports to serve as their lead NFL analyst but has only worked one season in the role.
Balancing Two Worlds
Brady’s dual responsibilities have drawn criticism, particularly as his influence within the Raiders organization grows. Mark Davis, the Raiders’ majority owner, recently confirmed that Brady has a “huge voice” in shaping the franchise’s future. This includes playing a pivotal role in the search for a new head coach following the recent firing of Antonio Pierce.
Samson, speaking on The Dan Le Batard Show, didn’t mince words when discussing Brady’s dual roles.
“Tom Brady is running that team right now,” Samson said. “The NFL knows it, and Fox knows it. Something has got to give. Enjoy Tom in the booth this season because you’re not going to see him there next year.”
Samson went further, calling Brady’s attempt to juggle both roles “an absolute insult” to both professional analysts and team executives. “You cannot be this involved in the operation of a team and be the No. 1 analyst,” Samson continued. “You end up doing both in a mediocre way. And I promise you, he will choose the Raiders.”

A Growing Role with the Raiders
Brady’s involvement with the Raiders goes beyond being a minority owner. Reports indicate that the seven-time Super Bowl champion will have a significant say in the team’s direction, including its coaching search and player acquisitions. His presence in the Raiders’ decision-making process raises questions about potential conflicts of interest, particularly as he continues to work for Fox Sports.
NFL rules already impose restrictions on Brady as a minority owner. His involvement in operational decisions, especially in personnel matters, is expected to increase scrutiny from the league. Despite these challenges, Brady’s growing influence suggests a deeper commitment to the Raiders’ long-term success.
Criticism of Brady’s Role
Samson wasn’t alone in criticizing Brady’s balancing act. Many industry insiders and fans have questioned how Brady can effectively manage the responsibilities of being a top-tier NFL analyst while also shaping the future of a struggling franchise.
“It’s not just about doing two jobs,” Samson said. “It’s about doing them well. Being a great analyst requires full-time dedication, preparation, and focus. Running a team, even in a minority ownership role, is an entirely different level of responsibility. You can’t do both without one suffering.”
Future of Brady at Fox
Fox Sports has yet to comment publicly on Brady’s future with the network, but speculation is mounting that his time in the broadcast booth could be short-lived. Brady’s $375 million deal was one of the most significant post-retirement moves in sports media history, but his apparent preference for hands-on involvement with the Raiders may lead to an early exit.
When pressed on whether his claims were based on inside information or speculation, Samson doubled down. “Tom Brady will not be with Fox next season,” he declared. “He’ll be full-time in the Raiders front office running that team. Period.”
What’s Next for Brady and the Raiders?
If Samson’s claims hold true, Brady’s transition from the broadcast booth to the front office would mark a new chapter in his storied career. His football acumen, leadership skills, and competitive drive make him an intriguing figure in an executive role.
However, stepping away from Fox Sports after just one season would raise questions about his long-term commitment to the media deal that initially drew significant fanfare.
For now, all eyes remain on Brady as he navigates this transitional period. Whether he continues as Fox Sports’ marquee NFL analyst or dedicates himself fully to rebuilding the Raiders, one thing is certain: Tom Brady’s influence on football, both on and off the field, remains as impactful as ever.
