Former lead sports anchor Mark Giangreco has called for Terry Bradshaw to be ‘saved’ after believing he ‘stumbled’ through FOX NFL Sunday.

Giangreco, 72, is now a contributor to ESPN radio after stepping back from his role as an anchor on ABC7 in 2021, a role he held for several decades. Giangreco is a huge fan of Bradshaw but admits it’s clear to see his decline as he continues to age and has called for FOX Sports to take matters into their own hands.

“Terry Bradshaw stumbling thru the hilites was funny & folksy at first now it’s really aggravating, uncomfortable & annoying, falling behind & mispronouncing until Curt Menefee has to take over & bail him out,” Giangreco wrote on X. “It’s sad. I love the original TB. Save him from the embarrassment.”

He then responded with a thumbs-up emoji when retired sports anchor Dave Kerner replied: “This is when the execs have to step in.” Bradshaw is an NFL legend after playing 14 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and joined FOX NFL Sunday back in 1994.

The four-time Super Bowl champion is respected by all NFL fans, but this season he’s come under increased criticism for his contribution inside the booth. “Is it just me or does it seem like Terry Bradshaw forgetting a lot of things he should know?” One fan wrote on Sunday.

“Terry Bradshaw is a legend, but it’s over,” another added. “Terry Bradshaw was struggling to get through the first-half highlights. I hate to see that,” one fan begrudgingly wrote.

Fans also claimed on Sunday that Bradshaw misinterpreted New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye, instead calling him Derek Mayback. Bradshaw was also called out when he began discussing Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb returning from injury earlier this season, despite calling the game between the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans.

Despite the backlash and fears over Bradshaw’s ability to fulfill his role, the FOX broadcaster still loves his job and claimed he is still having fun in the booth. “So much fun, I’m one of those people that are lucky to go to work and can’t wait to get there,” Bradshaw said on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show.’

“It’s so much fun to get up early as you, we work all day, we’re 12 hours in the studio working all the games throughout. The people here in New York may see us do one show but we do 12.

“You’re hanging out with a bunch of jocks that you love like brothers and it is a hoot as you can well imagine. They’re all good people.” Bradshaw reportedly earns around $2 million per season with FOX, although it’s not been disclosed how long his contract is with the broadcaster.
